DIY Gumball “Pearl” Necklaces

DIY Gumball "Pearl" Necklace

For a client’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s Inspired Bridal Brunch, we created a signature piece for the sweet table, pearl necklaces made of pearl white gumballs and tulle.

First here’s what you need:

  • Pearl White Gumballs
  • Tulle
  • Ribbon
  • Thumbtack
  • Doll Needle ( or a needle strong enough to penetrate the gumball)
  • Scissors

Steps:

Use the thumbtack to pierce holes through the gumball. If the gumball is too tough to penetrate, twist the thumbtack as you push through. Once you have the small starter holes, use a doll needle to gently push straight through the gumball, creating holes large enough to feed the ribbon through. Cut the desired length of ribbon. Use the doll needle to thread the ribbon and string on the gumballs. Add a tulle bow to the end of the gumball as a garnish. For desired thickness, layer the tulle.

That’s it! Once you have completed them, you may wear them, or eat them.  This idea is great because you can customize the necklaces for multiple themes, and uses. I hope you have as much fun as we had creating them.
